Born in San Diego but raised in Mexico for much of her childhood, the bicultural Yovana Mendoza brings a vibrant and authentic voice to living a healthy, conscious, vegan lifestyle. She aspires to unconditional love — for all living beings, self included — and has an endless desire to share her love of compassion, health, and life! She flips the standard narrative about healthy living on its head, enthusing that the lifestyle she’s presenting is rooted in abundance rather than restriction.
With over 900,000 followers on Instagram and over a million across her YouTube channels, it’s clear that Yovana — as the founder of the Rawvana family — is sharing a message that the world is increasingly ready to hear. One of the ways Yovana stands out among other advocates of healthy, conscious lifestyles is the inclusiveness of her message — and, by extension, the breadth of her audience. Her multicultural following is spread across the globe, thanks in part to her dedication to making all of her platforms bilingual. Her far-reaching influence is clear through her media presence as well; she’s been featured in UNIVISION, Glamour, Grazia México, San Diego Magazine, Fox News, and more.
Yovana wasn’t always passionate about nutrition. In her teens and early 20s, she struggled to find purpose or meaning. Eventually, she turned to parties and drinking (among other things) as means of escaping from this. It wasn’t until a doctor ordered her to take six weeksoff from smoking and alcohol for an unrelated surgery that she found the purpose she had
been looking for all along. It’s clear that Yovana isn’t just another person touting a fad diet. Instead, she’s taken a deep dive into understanding the mechanics of how our bodies work, specifically as that relates tonutrition. Her hunger for knowledge led her to read everything she could get her hands on — and once she ran out of books, she started studying with the best nutritionists she could find. Yovana has interned with Dr. Douglas Graham and obtained a certification in the
Science of Raw Food Nutrition from the Living Light Institute. She is also a certified Holistic Health Coach through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, and attending ongoing studies in Spiritual Psychology at the University of Santa Monica.
One of Yovana’s strengths is a certain maturity despite her youth that allows her to admit her own mistakes and to be receptive to other options. She’s upfront about her past and doesn’t pretend that she has always been a paragon of perfect choices. She also shares her current journey openly, explaining that after several years on a raw vegan diet, she realized that
incorporating some cooked foods was the right decision for her.
These days, Yovana gracefully and enthusiastically leads the Rawvana family online, cultivating a welcoming and inclusive space for those looking to improve their diets, fitness, and overall health. In her YouTube videos and social media posts, she shares her recipes, fitness advice, spiritual reflections, and passion. Her own reasons for being vegan run the gamut from health-related to ethical, and her contagious cheer and warmth give her a knack for sharing these insights with the Rawvana family without ever venturing into the realm of guilt or judgment. She leads by vibrant example, making it almost impossible not to follow.
