Headsessions Promotions has been running since August 2012. It started with a vision of creating a new side to the Southampton music scene, and to open the doors to a genre of music not often seen in the area. Since the start, the Headsessions reggae night has been the only regular reggae night in Southampton so has drawn in quite a lot of attention.
The Headsessions Promotion company booked some of the biggest artists in the reggae scene in their first year, including: Macka B, Channel One Soundsystem, Aba Shanti, Dub Pistols, Zion Train, to name just a few.
After the first year of booking artists and putting on big high profile shows, making links and learning about the industry, the Headsessions crew started to build their own custom built soundsystem with the idea of running nights with it...
The Headsessions crew have continued their monthly Southampton residency since August 2012 but have now moved venue, right in the centre of town, to try and push the dub scene even more to the residents and students of southampton. In this time they have played alongside some of the biggest names in reggae history, including: Lee 'Scratch' Perry, Mungos HIFI, Don Letts, Reggae Roast, Adam Prescott, Channel One Soundsystem, Macka B... while still promoting the local DJs and soundsystems in the area.
The last couple of years have been incredible for Headsessions with gigs every weekend, radio shows, festivals and small European tours. Now concentrating hard on production, Headsessions are looking to get vinyl pressed for release and are planning on taking over the reggae scene with their organically unique, heavy roots to steppas sound!
