DJ Luminous Set
Voted one of the world's ‘Top 100 Female DJs’, Luminous took up DJ’ing in the early 90s, after completing an undercover investigation at two animal research labs: “I needed to escape from the horrors I’d witnessed, and the rave scene provided the perfect opportunity”. She’s performed at clubs and festivals in the UK and Europe, and for many years she had a residency at legendary London venue 'The Foundry'. More recently, she created the "unexpectedly genius" VEGAN ANTHEMS mix (17 tracks with a ‘vegan’ message by well-known bands and musicians). She also sings in the band Luminous Frenzy (see main stage). http://soundcloud.com/djluminous/vegan-anthems
This year, VegfestUK welcomes Jasmin Steer to the performance stage; an extremely talented 14 year old singer. Lifetime vegetarian and successfully converted Vegan (as a result of Vegfest 2010!), Jazzy loves singing, acting, dancing and auditioning. She recently won her second talent show and hopes to go on to Performing Arts in the future. She is a big animal lover and owns 23 pets in total! Jazzy's voice is captivating, melodic and beautiful and she will be covering some well-known tunes for VegfestUK - just perfect for some laidback early afternoon listening.

Michael Scott & Hilda Sheehan
The celebrated poet Mrs. Hongo of Hawaii, writer of 'Elvis Lives in a Honolulu Anagram' writes,
'MICHAEL SCOTT is one of the best imagist poets of our time. His striking narratives are often disturbing
and realistic, always original. Above all he is a true creative spirit and can take a situation or story, within minutes spin it through a colourblind mindscape into surreal and raw poetry. An inspiration!'
Michael performs his poems in London and all over the South West.
'A cracking clutch of poems.' Louise Fazackerley, Write Out Loud forum.
Hilda Sheehan's poems have appeared on the BBC Website, The Rialto, National Poetry Society Website, The New Writer and South magazines. She performs her work at poetry events all over the South West region. She gained a distinction in creative writing with the Open University. Hilda is also the founder and organiser of BlueGate Poets and Assistant to Swindon Artswords Literature Development Worker. Hilda runs workshops in prisons, councils, schools based on inspiring others to discover the joy of poetry!
The DaturasThe Daturas are the newest young band to cause a big stir on the local music scene. Since they formed last December, they have already won competitions and played huge venues. They've made a tidy music video and are currently being confirmed for great festivals across the UK this summer. The Daturas bring pedal steel slide and gypsy blues guitar to the stage. Balanced on top of ska, country and pop songs, don't miss their acoustic set featuring a blend of mellow sounds which are upbeat and impossible not to dance to!
Always near the top of the online UK Country Music Charts, songwriter, performer, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Jack Bird has had his songs played on Nashville, Tennessee and Texas Radio as well as many UK based radio stations.
Jack Bird is a country artist with a twist. His music is described as earthy, honest, dark and bluesy Americana. VegfestUK sees Jack perform a set full of whiskey-aching songs not to be missed.
Shane Jordan is a local Bristol pianist. He started to teach himself the piano at 14 years old then went on to receive private music lessons. After completing a contemporary music course, he has gone on to compose music for theatre companies, teach piano himself and perform at local venues. His musical inspirations are Robert Schumann, Debussy, Alexander Scribian, Edvard Grieg and Felix Mendelssohn. He admires concert pianists such as Alfred Cortot and Vladimir Horowitz. His music is dreamlike and esoteric in nature with hints of love, woodland mystery and pain.
Joyce the Librarian: Joyce the Librarian formed in the Summer of 2010 and are a four piece band from Bristol. Lyrical songs coupled with a natural pop sensibility are delivered with prettily plucked acoustic guitars, cello, organ and lush harmonies. The band's carefully crafted acoustica draws influences from Sufjan Stevens, The High Llamas and Yo La Tengo's gentler moments. Joyce the Librarian's debut EP will be available from early May 2011 and will be supported by a tour (dates and venues to be confirmed).
'Bristol-based Scottish singer songwriter brings wit and melody aplenty to his smartly penned, driving melodicism, as heard on the long player 'Sir, I Am A Good Man'. Splendid.' - Venue Magazine www.lonelytourist.bandcamp.com
